A grieving father experiences the absurd circumstances around the death of his son in this searing, critical reflection on military culture. Michael (Lior Ashkenazi, Norman, 7 Days in Entebbe) and Dafna (Sarah Adler, Jellyfish) are devastated when army officials show up at their home to announce the death of their son Jonathan (Yonaton Shiray). While his sedated wife rests, Michael becomes increasingly frustrated by overzealous mourning relatives and well-meaning army bureaucrats. He spirals into a whirlwind of anger, only to experience one of life’s unfathomable twists—a twist that can only be rivaled by the surreal military experiences of his son. Winner of 8 Israeli Academy Awards, including Best Film, Director and Actor (Ashkenazi). Israel’s official selection for Best Foreign Language Film consideration at the 90th Academy Awards. Written and directed by Samuel Maoz (Lebanon). (Fully subtitled)
