The NY Dog Film Festival is an annual celebration of the love between dogs and their people, through short films from around the world that inspire, educate and entertain, benefiting local animal welfare groups that bring people and pets together. The program of twenty short films includes Legends of Comedy, in which Carol Burnett, Bob Newhart, Carl Reiner and Lily Tomlin talk about growing older, and what it means for senior people and senior dogs in candid, funny and poignant comments; The Comfort Dogs, a heart-warming documentary about traumatized ex-child soldiers in a Ugandan program helping the young people manage their PTSD by giving them each a dog as part of the therapy; Not Broken: Freedom Ride, in which a cross-country transport mission of two vans with 50 dogs drives from Louisiana to a Super Adoption Day in Rhode Island; Go Fetch, an animated tale about a dirty old tennis ball who is tired of being a dog's chew toy and what happens when he tries to find new tennis ball friends at the court; The Second Time I Got To Know My Dog, which explores what happened when COVID-19 shut down America and the filmmaker’s roommates all suddenly moved out, leaving just him and his dog in a four-bedroom house; and Ballad of Muttville, a tongue-in-cheek spoof on Sarah McLachlan's music video about sorrowful dogs in shelters, imagining instead what the old dogs really get up to behind closed doors.

Note: There is no nudity, sexual reference, vulgar language or physical or verbal abuse between people—and no animals were harmed—in these films. Any tears you might shed would be tears of joy for happy endings. The films can be watched by all members of the family, but are intended for adults and more mature children.
