Winner of the Grand Jury Prize for Documentary at the Sundance Film Festival, Dina is a tender and endearing love story featuring an unconventional protagonist the likes of which has never been seen before in movies. Dina and her boyfriend Scott are in love and plan to get married soon; both bring baggage to the relationship, with Scott’s Asperger syndrome and Dina’s autism and a previous abusive relationship, but they are determined to work through their problems together. It’s a few weeks before the wedding, and Dina is moving Scott from his parents’ house to her apartment, trying to get him settled in only the second home he’s ever had. She has to get her dress, confirm arrangements with the venue, and make peace with her nervous family. Throughout it all, in the face of obstacles large and small, Dina remains an indomitable force of nature. She’s overcome tragedy and found the man she wants and, at age 48, is bent on building the life for herself that she believes she deserves. Hilarious, sweet and touching, Dina is directed by Antonio Santini and Daniel Sickles.
