Forty years after the death of Elvis Presley, the King’s 1963 Silver Phantom Rolls-Royce limo is taken on a musical road trip across America, with writer/director Eugene Jarecki in the driver’s seat. From Memphis to New York, Las Vegas, and beyond, the journey traces the rise and fall of Elvis as a metaphor for the country he left behind. Compelling and thought-provoking, this groundbreaking film paints a visionary portrait of the declining state of the American Dream and is a penetrating look at causes and effects. A diverse cast of Americans, both famous and non, join the journey, some performing music in the capacious back seat; passengers including Alec Baldwin, Rosanne Cash, Chuck D, Emmylou Harris, Ethan Hawke, Van Jones, Mike Myers, and Dan Rather, among many others. Executive produced by Steven Soderbergh. Filmmaker Eugene Jarecki (Why We Fight, The House I Live In, The Trials of Henry Kissinger) is a two-time Sundance Grand Jury Prize winner.
