Newly arrived from England to marry his fiancee Zaneta (Agnieszka Zulewska), Peter (Israeli actor Itay Tiran, Lebanon) meets his in-laws-to-be for the first time, who have given the couple their ramshackle country house in rural Poland. It’s a total fixer-upper, and while inspecting the premises on the eve of the wedding, he falls into a pile of skeletal remains. The ceremony proceeds, but strange things begin to happen. During the wild reception, Peter’s behavior becomes increasingly erratic, and it eventually becomes apparent that he has been possessed by the spirit of a dead woman, a dybbuk, the iconic ancient figure from Jewish folklore, who has unsettled affairs to reckon with. Tiran as Peter is terrific, going from romantic young groom to host of frightening fits, much to the shame of his new father-in-law (Andrzej Grabowski), and the horror of his bride. The final film by late director/co-writer Marcin Wrona is genuinely creepy and unexpected, with a streak of dark humor as the wedding celebration turns into a shambles. Winner of the Best Horror Feature award at the 2015 Austin Fantastic Fest. (Partially subtitled)
