The Cut is an epic drama, adventure and western all rolled into one. It tells a tale of war and displacement, but also the power of love and hope, which enables us to achieve the unimaginable. Tahar Rahim (A Prophet, The Past, Samba) gives an unforgettable performance as a desperate father searching to find his missing daughters in a quest that takes him years and spans the globe. One night in 1915 the Turkish police round up all the Armenian men living in the town of Mardin in the Ottoman Empire, including young blacksmith Nazaret (Rahim). Separated from his wife and young twin daughters, he struggles to survive. Years later he hears that his two daughters are still alive, and makes the quest to track them down his life’s goal. His search takes him from the Mesopotamian deserts to Havana and to the desolate prairies of North Dakota. The Cut is acclaimed writer/director Fatih Akin’s conclusion to his Love, Death and The Devil trilogy that started with Head-On and continued with The Edge of Heaven. (Partially subtitled)
