Landmark's Regent Theatre in Westwood brings independent, specialized, foreign and art film back to the venerable Los Angeles movie-going neighborhood for the first time in decades. This single-screen theatre features new seating, décor, concessions, digital sound and the best big screen presentation of any art cinema in Los Angeles. Bordering on the south edge of the thriving UCLA campus and medical center, the area has undergone a revitalization with a focus on shopping, culture, dining and entertainment. There are over 250 businesses in the historic Village, originally constructed in 1929, as well as the Armand Hammer museum, the Geffen Playhouse, an upscale urban shopping complex designed by world-class Kanner Architects at the site of the former Bullock's department store, the W Hotel and a host of sophisticated restaurants.
