New 35mm Print!
Friday, February 1 - Thursday, February 7

Alain Resnais' legendary arthouse sensation returns! As ominous organ music resounds, the Scope camera tracks through the seemingly endless halls of a baroque grand hotel—alternately thronged with tuxedoes and gowns or echoingly deserted—as Giorgio Albertazzi tries to persuade an initially disbelieving Delphine Seyrig (in her feature debut) that they'd met the year before, even as the sepulchral Sacha Pitoëff (her husband?) hovers about. But as Albertazzi continues to repeat "Last year…," each encounter takes place in different locations, in different costumes. With dizzying time shifts and flashbacks, real or imagined, Marienbad is considered the ultimate puzzle film. Winner of the Venice Film Festival's 1961 Golden Lion. Official Web Site

Writer/Director Dale Kutzera In Person Fri, Feb 8 at
7:30 & 9:45pm and Sat, Feb 9 at 5:15 & 7:30pm!

Writer/director Dale Kutzera's biting satire plays out in the form of a long-lost WWII training film. He cleverly combines new and vintage scenes to dramatize the importance of knowing what we're attacking before we attack it—"for it is intelligence that distinguishes dangerous enemies from merely annoying foreigners." Patrick Muldoon stars as Major Nick Reed, a military analyst determined to find a hidden Nazi fighter base. Complicating Reed's efforts is a chance meeting with his former love, Lt. Monica Tasty (Elizabeth Bennett), and her current beau, Major Mitch Dunning (Mackenzie Astin). Golden Era performers such as William Holden, Alan Ladd, Arthur Kennedy and Ronald Reagan also appear in vintage sequences unseen for over 50 years. Official Web Site

Director L.Q. Jones' 1975 cult favorite is set in post-World War IV America, where one young scavenger named Vic (Don Johnson of "Miami Vice" and "Nash Bridges" fame, in a key early role) has an advantage on survival through the telepathic bond he has with his dog. Or has it? Based on a Nebula Award-winning novella by acclaimed author Harlan Ellison. Also starring Jason Robards, Alvy Moore and the voice of Tim McIntire.

Featuring Sins O' The Flesh LIVE!

The longest-running midnight movie of all time stars Tim Curry as the kinky yet endearing “transsexual from Transylvania” Dr. Frank N. Furter, Susan Sarandon and Barry Bostwick as his hapless guests Brad and Janet, Meat Loaf as motorcycle-riding rough trade and author Richard O’Brien as the hunchbacked butler Riff Raff. It’s harmless musical fun—a delightful spoof of Hollywood horror movies and Old Dark House melodramas. All of our engagements feature live casts who perform scenes during the movie, and the audience is always welcome to respond to the on-screen action. The Rocky Horror Picture was the first—and is still the best—interactive movie experience! Official Web Site

Writer/Director George A. Romero In Person
Fri & Sun, Feb 15 & 17 at 7:30 & 10pm!

Writer/director George A. Romero (creator of the original Night of the Living Dead and Dawn of the Dead features) makes his first independently produced film in over 20 years, putting a modern spin on the theme of a zombie invasion. While shooting a low-budget mummy film in the Pennsylvania woods, a small crew of college students discovers that corpses are rising up and devouring people around them. As these strange events escalate to other areas of the country, the government at first tries to deny—and then promises to quell—the outbreak. Needless to say, they fail miserably. Meanwhile, one of the students obsessively films the chaos that is going on around him, even as his friends are being killed and eaten while trying to make their way back home. Official Web Site

A visual poem of incomparable beauty, this masterpiece from writer/director Nacer Khemir begins with the story of a blind dervish named Bab'Aziz (Parviz Shahinkhou) and his spirited granddaughter, Ishtar (Maryam Hamid). Together they wander the desert in search of a great reunion of dervishes that takes place just once every 30 years. To keep Ishtar entertained, Bab'Aziz relays the ancient tale of a prince who relinquished his realm in order to remain next to a small pool in the desert, staring into its depths while contemplating his soul. As the tale of the prince unfolds, the two encounter other travelers with stories of their own. Filled with breathtaking images and wonderful music, Khemir has created a fairytale-like story of longing and belonging, filmed in the enchanting and ever-shifting sandscapes of Tunisia and Iran. Writer/director Brett Morgen's (The Kid Stays in the Picture) unique perspective on contemporary history mixes bold animation with extraordinary archival footage as it explores the Chicago Conspiracy Trial of Abbie Hoffman, Tom Hayden, Jerry Rubin, Bobby Seale and others. The film follows several campers: Laura, an articulate, adopted Korean girl obsessed with death metal; Misty, who is emerging from a life of meth-addiction, homelessness and gang activity; Palace, a sweet-seeming 8-year-old with a heavy metal sneer; and Amelia, who's writing a 14-song cycle about her dog Pippi. Forming bands, writing songs and playing a gig in front of 700 people—these girls and the rest of the camp engage in an experiment in empowerment that will leave no one unchanged. Directed by Shane King and Arne Johnson. Official Web Site

Friday, April 4 at Midnight!

In 1979, four documentary filmmakers and their guide went into the jungles of South America to shoot a film about cannibalism. They never returned. Six months later, New York University along with the Pan American Broadcasting Corporation sent in a search team, looking for the filmmakers. They could never be prepared for what they would find. Long before Blair Witch was a twinkle in a young filmmaker's eye, Cannibal Holocaust shocked the world with its grisly "found footage" gimmick, resulting in a movie that was banned almost everywhere. Now this legendary gore-fest can be seen in the U.S., completely uncut and uncensored! No One Under 18 Admitted.
