The Friedmans seem to be a typical family: Arnold, a schoolteacher, and his wife Elaine, a homemaker, raise their three boys in an affluent Long Island town. One Thanksgiving, as the family prepares for a holiday dinner, police officers rush into the house and seize boxes of the family's possessions. Arnold and his eighteen-year-old son Jesse are arrested and subsequently indicted for hundreds of shocking crimes. Director Andrew Jarecki follows their story from the public's perspective and through unique footage shot by family members inside the Friedman house. Winner of the 2003 Sundance Documentary Prize.
